James T. Goodwin

James T. Goodwin is a multimedia artist whose work spans visual art, alchemy, and the long cultivation of creative community in Los Angeles.

A protégé of Russian actress Eugenie Leontovich, American painter Jeanne Miles, and master musician Leonid Hambro, Goodwin developed an artistic sensibility shaped equally by theater, painting, music and the transformative traditions of tantra and alchemy. His work has been exhibited at various venues across Southern California including the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts.

As designer and director of marketing at the Pacific Design Center, Goodwin worked for eight years alongside PDC president Murray Feldman to expand the Center beyond a marketplace for design products into a center for the dissemination of ideas. His vehicle was WESTWEEK, the celebrated international design conference he created, which drew artists, designers, architects, philosophers and scientists into annual conversations — attracting figures such as Christo, Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry, Eiko Ishioka, June Wayne, Paul MacCready and Jonas Salk. He is also a Director Emeritus of the Los Angeles Craft and Folk Art Museum, now known as the Craft Contemporary.
